Shaving brushes are the ideal companion to a safety razor as they fully prepare the skin for being shaved. This is especially useful on coarse facial hair but you may find it gives better results on legs and anywhere else too.
Soak your shaving soap in the tin or snug bowl for 10-15 minutes and pour away excess water. Soak your brush in warm water for about 30 seconds. Squeeze out excess water and then use this wet bush to really foam up your solid shaving soap by running the brush around it in circular motion, until you get nice thick foam. It is better to start with less water and atting a few drops if necessary, rather than starting with loads and ending up wih foam that is too thin.
Keep doing this by gently swirling the brush around on the surface of the soap for a minute or two until you get a good creamy lather. You alternate the swirl direction (between clockwise and counter-clockwise) every few moments to help work the lather into the bristles.
Now apply the foam to your sking in up and down or circular strokes and get shaving!
